For the action and stability of many products it is of great importance to understand diffusion properties, something that can be controlled through formulation and process. With diffusion-NMR it is possible to get information on the diffusivity of water or substrates in even complex matrices.

In this particular collaboration with Procter & Gamble we adressed the need for a complementary tool to study the effects on morphology that different processes and formulations have.

Our  solution was to develop new NMR methods and use these in combination with SAXS (Small Angle X-ray Scattering) to get structural information from samples with complex morphology, also on true products far from ideal model systems…
