Animals as well as humans should have access to good medicine at reasonable costs. So also for veterinary medicines there is a generica-track. This means that for producers, time and resources can be saved, and clinical studies avoided,  if a veterinary product can be proven to be strictly identical to one that is already on the market.

In this case, we worked with ORKEO who needed a reverse engeneering study to know the composition of a pioneer product to be able to formulate an identical product.

The problem was the very difficult analysis. Not only were the analyties polydisperse and supplier dependent but the sample matrix itself made preparation far from trivial. There were so many things to consider and if all was not considered, the results would not be correct. When CR was asked to support the team, already several labs had failed in the quest. Also for CR this turned out to be one of the more complex analytical challenges.

The CR Approach was to combine analytical expertise with colloidal understanding: to control where all molecules are in order to know for sure what we are in fact analyzing.
Commitment, creativity and critical thinking through out all steps were all essential for success.

In the end, we could provide chromatograms of new formulations that in the area of the two ingredients given to CR to focus on, were almost impossible to distinguish from the pioneer.

We wish ORKEO all the best. We really appreciated working with them throughout this challenge, and you know what… they liked working with us… here is their testimonial:

We really appreciate our collaboration with CR which was able to find and propose interesting solution and bring us satisfactory results where a lot of others failed or gave up. Anna and Henrik showed a lot of enthusiasm, interest in our project and were really creative and fully involved to find a way to reach our target. We would be very happy to work again with CR competence.
