Electron microscopy is a name for several different kind of microscope techniques that we use. We use both scanning electron microscopy, SEM the variant E (=environmental) SEM and cryo-TEM (cryogenic transmission electron microscopy). The two SEM tools are very useful to study surfaces for example if there are issues with a foreign particle, inhomogeneities etc. Cryo-TEM is a tool we use for example on formulations of liposomes to characterize them in size and distinguish if they are uni- or multilamellar.
