Jonas Carlstedt, our interactions focused guitarist, has extensive experience working with various colloidal systems and experimental methods. He earned his PhD in physical chemistry from Lund University studying DNA (which is a stiff, highly charged polyelectrolyte) interactions with surfactants and cyclodextrins. A postdoc period at Malmö University followed, where Jonas investigated carbohydrate polymer-water interactions. During his time in academia, Jonas has used several experimental methods such as microscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, synchrotron SAXS, NMR, DSC and he has a prepared a number of phase diagrams/maps to facilitate a deeper understanding of intermolecular interactions. Visual observation using the bare eye has, however, often been the starting point for his work. Before joining CR, Jonas was working for the Swedish Forensic Laboratory and detective skills cannot be overestimated in the CR line of duty!

At CR we enjoy his scientific way of working and curiosity that helps us get closer to the root causes, may it not always be a villain…
