Erika Andersson, our shining scattering expert with a passion for sustainability.
Erika holds a PhD in physical chemistry from Lund University where she studied the colloidal aspects of dissolved organic matter (DOM) and carbon cycling in soil. Not only is this of course a very important aspect for complete understanding of our ecosystems but the DOM is also a direct connector between our planets terrestrial and aquatic systems, which makes it particularly interesting. Thus, after Lund Erika continued investigating the topic during a postdoc at Uppsala University now looking at colloidal matter in lake waters. Her main experimental techniques are classic and very useful phys-chem tools such as scattering (light, X-rays, neutrons) and NMR.
Her hobbies bare some similarities with her research, as she enjoys digging in the soil around her plants and shining light on various kinds of stage performances. Dancing, going to the theatre or just being outdoors are other things she enjoys.
At CR we appreciate all her traits and in particular how she has used colloidal chemistry in settings different from where CR has focused previously. This, together with her cross-disciplinary experience will help us do and communicate even better!
